Sausages & Snow Testing

Well I'm sorry to report but Graeme has developed an unhealthy addiction to the local sausage. As you can see from the photo above, he's pretty keen on the ol' bread too!! The food here is amazing. We maybe considerably changed in shape when we return home!! Move over Fat Albert!! Of course the food is expensive (don't even do the conversion to the Pacific Peso (NZ $) - it will freak you completely!), but it is really something in terms of quality and variety. We have adopted the french way and walk down the hill to our local boulangerie to purchase our bread each morning. Our favourite at the moment is the boule (the round bread) and a multi-grain bread shaped like a traditional bagette. And on Sunday's - Graeme treats himself to a croissant. I know too much about croissants to succumb to their seductive allure!!

The morning was spent on domestic duties, one the most important of which was to head to the bank to check on funds - an issue given the cost of living here! We also had to transfer some money to our landlord - you know that pesky thing called "rent". True to the "French Way" our bank is not open on a Monday. Rather they operate 9 - 12, 2 - 6pm Tuesday to Friday with a 2 hour lunch break each day. Honestly, we Kiwi's and Aussies really need to realign our thoughts on "lifestyle" - I think the French have the formula!!

I apologise to our non-skiing friends...there is going to be a lot of these "white skiing shots". It's just what Graeme and I do! I know - I know, it's about as interesting as watching paint dry. To help you, I'll make sure I put the ski photos ahead of the text so you can quickly skip this boring stuff.

For our snow bunny friends - suck it up!! After the domestics, we spent the afternoon in literally our back paddock testing out the new touring gear. Did we mention the powder snow? We also came across a random "Teepee". Not quite sure what this was doing in our local field? Our best guess is that it was part of a scout camp or something. We were tempted to take a peak inside, but alas, in snow you leave a very clear trail!

The forecast is for continuing snow, but slightly better weather tomorrow. Our french lesson was postponed until tomorrow morning and so we will do some more ski touring in the afternoon and go to Courmeyeur in Italy on Wednesday. But our plans remain fairly fluid so anything is possible!!
